The national transporter of India’s railways said on Monday it has been making a significant investment in a new facility to upgrade the track infrastructure in the countrys busiest railway system.
The railway ministry announced the project in December, as part of a bid to improve track quality in the capital and other areas.
The new facility, to be built at Kalkaji in western Uttar Pradesh state, is expected to cost Rs1,300 crore ($2.8 billion).
The ministry has been spending heavily on the project, which has been in the works for more than a decade.
